Would you like a straw with that?

Today I saw a man drinking a bottle of gatorade with a straw! People here don't just drink out of a can or bottle. They always use a straw: for milk, cans of soda, bottles of water. However, they don't drink beer with a straw. It's the one exception. Maybe they know something I don't know. The soda cans/lips of the bottle are tainted with rat poisoning?!?!?
